Flow Monitors
Applications include: Measuring flows used in high production such as cooling water, lubrication flow, shielding gas and paint. Industries include automotive, steel, rubber, glass, power and mining. |
Metering Solutions have an exclusive UK agreement with UFM (Universal Flow Monitors) who manufacture flow indication and flow transmitters. The product range include Insite®, FlowStream® and Vortex (liquids) product lines.
Insite® is a plastic see through flow indicator used for water , de-ionized water and dilute chemicals used in waste water treatment. The FlowStream® product uses a different technology to measure the mass flow of clean gasses where fast response and survivability are key. The Vortex can be used for water, brine and corrosive liquids using the vortex shredding operation. The Piston and Vane style Variable Area are commonly used for monitoring the flow rate of clean fluids such as water, chemicals, brine, de-ionized water, paint and compressed air.
Each type of flowmeter is available with a range of flow indicators (flow rate, totaliser), pulse output, 4-20mA output or alarm switches.

The Insite variable area flowmeters made of see-through plastic with metal or plastic port adapters. You get to see your fluid as well as having all metal pipe connections. These are used for water, compressed air, dilute chemicals (such as those used in water treatment), and de-ionized water. These have the same general characteristics as our vane and piston style variable area flow meters, but they are limited to a lower pressure range, use a different technology for switching, and do not have transmitters.

Flowstream Mass Flowmeters for gas use Laminare Flow Element echnology. This is a subset of differential pressure flow meters. The Flowstream Mass Flowmeter gives a fast enough response to be usefull in automation. The common applications include shielding gas for arc welding, air flow for robotic painting, methane flow to fuel cells and plasma coating. |

EMI immunity is important when you are arc welding in close proximity. NEMA 4 (weather proof) construction makes for long life and an iIntrinsically safe version is available for hazardous locations. Programmable set points, 2 wire 4-20 mA output and other current or frequency outputs are available for linking to remote monitoring equipment. Battery operated units are available when a visual digital readout is all that is required. Multi-gas units are available where the gas to be measured can be selected at the meter. Bidirectionality is now an option for those applications where you want to look at flow in and out of something.
