Metering Solutions supply energy/heat meters for heating, cooling and solar applications to the UK Markets that are designed for industrial/commercial and domestic applications.  The comprehensive range of energy meters are approved to EN 1434 and MID class 2 ; these approvals guarantees conformance to installation, operating monitoring and maintenance and also allows these to be utilsed for the RHI scheme.

What is the RHI Scheme?

On 10 March 2011, the Government announced the details of the Renewable Heat Incentive policy to revolutionise the way heat is generated and used. This is the first financial support scheme for renewable heat of its kind in the world.

At a time when we can see many problems with relying on a rapidly changing world and continuous reliance on oil and gas, we are proposing to put in place a key foundation stone of our energy future where both carbon reduction and energy security are assured.

The Renewable Heat Incentive(RHI) policy document, sets out the detailed arrangements for this scheme, which will provide long-term financial support to renewable heat installations to encourage the uptake of renewable heat.

RHI scheme payments on renewable heat are based on heat metering however there are strict guidelines on the type of metering equipment utilised with the minimum approval requirement of MID class 2 (MI-004); the RAY Heat Meter & SHARKY Heat Meter comply.

The ultrasonic compact energy meter SHARKY Solar can be used for measuring the energy consumption in solar systems. SHARKY SOLAR is now available in nominal sizes qp0, 6 / 1.5 / 2.5 for the glycol medium TYFOCOR LS. This medium is widely used in Europe in solar systems. Often the temperatures in such systems are above 100 ° C. Therefore mechanical meters will soon reach their thermal limits. The SHARKY Solar can be use continuous at 130 ° C as a precise measuring system.

Features include electronic sensor control for recording flow rate, power by lithium battery with approximate lifetime of 16 years, 24Vac or 230Vac, insensitive against dirt, no calming sections necessary in the inlet or outlet (standard installation), high long term stability (verified with independent AGFW test).

This model can be equipped with a pulse output (reedswitch), M-BUS output linking to remote monitoring equipment (i.e. counters, AMR systems. BMS (building management systems) or alternatively radio module for AMR system. Available in sizes from 1/2" & 3/4" for installation in horizontal or vertical pipes.
