AMR Systems

Metering Solutions supply AMR (Automatic Metering Reading) Systems that collects consumption, diagnostic and status of flow metering equipment (i.e. water, gas, energy) which allows real time analysis and removes periodic trips and estimating or predicted consumption. The products available allow monitoring of quantities of one to thousands of water, gas, heat and electric meters which would provide a cost effective solution.

The AMR Systems include information transmitted via GSM, RF (radio frequency) and/or GPRS and also M-BUS to stand alone computer system and/or hand held terminal.

We are able to offer a full site survey to test and prove the system required and also if required provide information on show case installations in the UK. Full training regarding the programming and full use of the system is also available.

To discuss any system further please contact Warren on 01942 273333 or e-mail warren@meteringsolutions.co.uk

GSM & GPRS Transmitters

GSM & GPRS Transmitters can be used to monitor the readings of a water meters, gas meters, energy meters or electric meters by connecting to the pulse output facility of the meter. The GSM & GPRS Transmitters are ideal for remote installations but readings are required on either hourly, daily, weekly or annual logs; program the transmitter to your specific reading requirements, install and then monitor via GSM to your mobile or GPRS to your PC.

9100 GSM & GPRS Module - PDF File

The 9100-GSM Telemetry Engine is a low cost, M2M, universal GSM/GPRS module which can transmit and receive analogue, digital and pulse counter data to any device connected to the GPS/GPRS network such as mobile phones, Web Sites or other 9100-GSM Telemetry Engines.

Some applications include the following but please feel free to contact us to discuss your actual requirement:

Alarm Monitoring using Multiple Mobile Phones
Individual digital, analogue and pulse counter inputs can trigger SMS and GPRS alarms messages and send them to individual or multiple mobile phones or send them simultaneously to a dedicated Web Site. The Real Time Clock can be set to send the status of any or all of the inputs at pre-set times.

Monitoring and Control
The inputs and outputs of multiple 9100-GSM can be configured as a back to back monitoring and control system.

Data Logging
The 9100-GSM Engine can be configured to store values from the analogue inputs, Counter Inputs and Digital Inputs at preset times or when the value changes by a pre-set amount. The data is stored in the 128K Flash Memory and either down-loaded on request or at pre-set times.

Transparent Serial Data
Serial data can be transmitted and received transparently without the need for AT Instructions. Ideal for applications such as Variable Message Signs.

Energy Metering .
4 digital inputs can be configured to 4 pulse counter inputs. The current value of each counter can be transmitted using SMS Messages at pre-set times or when a value has been exceeded.

The GPRS System uses radio frequency transmitters that are link to the required number GPRS transmitters. The number of GPRS transmitters required would depend on the location and area of the radio transmitters that are attached to each metering device that requires monitoring. The GPRS system would require the following components to complete an active system:

IZAR CP R3.5 868 MHz radio module transmitter is compatible with all SAPPEL modular meters, i.e. ALTAIR Water Meter and SHARKY Energy Meter. The IZAR CP radio module is simply clipped onto the meters of the Sappel modular range. It is factory or field-programmed via the IrDA optical head and sends the actual index of the meter with which it is associated to the IZAR PRT radio receiver connected to the handheld terminal. IZAR CP is very compact and operates with one non-replaceable cell offering an average life of 15 years. In addition to the actual meter index, IZAR CP can send the index on a programmable anniversary date (e.g. December 31st) and also the remaining battery life. It further provides for a number of alarms - leaks, meter stopped, mechanical fraud (disconnection), magnetic fraud, reverse flow, over and under flow.

IZAR DP R3.5 868 MHz wall mounted radio module transmitter is compatible with any water meter, gas meter, energy meter and electricity meter that have a pulse output facility. The IZAR DP R3.5 is compatible with all meters with pulse transmitters of the dry-contact reed type, open collector (NPN) type. IZAR DP can be fixed to the meter, the piping or an adjacent wall. IZAR DP is programmed by means of the IrDA optical head to send the index of the meter with which it is associated every eight seconds to the IZAR PRT Bluetooth radio receiver connected to the handheld terminal by means of a unidirectional radio link. IZAR DP is powered by one non-replaceable cell with an average life of 12 years. In addition to the actual meter index, IZAR DP also transmits the index on a programmable anniversary date (e.g. December 31st) and the remaining cell life. Besides, it provides for a number of alarms - leaks, meter stopped, mechanical fraud (cable cut-off), reverse flow, over and under flow.

M-Bus level converter is able to do readings of M-Bus meters with very high resolution (up to 1 minute possible) and over vast distances (5 km and more by using repeaters). The reading of IZAR RADIO meters is possible by using the HYDROMETER M-BUS RECEIVER. The M-Bus System would require the following components to complete an active system:

IZAR Centre The Izar-Center unit is used to remotely read M-Bus and radio meters (index, flow, power, temperatures etc). The installation of Izar-Center is user-friendly ; the unit automatically saves connected meters to it. Izar-Center may be read either by a PC with the RS232 link or via an analog, PSTN or GSM modem. Hydro-Center may also be used as a repeater to increase the size of a network.

  • Memory : 2 Mb (approximately 20,000 values)
  • Real-time clock : Date and time
  • Automatic meter reading : Programmable from 1 min to twice a month
  • M-Bus : 300 to 9600 baud (versions 60/250) 300 and 2400 baud (version 25)
  • Capacity of Izar-Center 60 : Up to 60 meters or 3 M-Bus receiver
  • Capacity of Izar-Center 120: Up to 120 meters or 6 M-Bus Receivers
  • Capacity of Izar-Center 250 : Up to 250 meters or 12 M-Bus Receivers

HYDRO PORT The Hydro-Port M-Bus pulse converter is a link in the Hydro-Center chain. It is used to connect one or two meters with pulse emitters (Reed type dry contact, NPN type open collector, etc.) to the M-Bus network. The two inputs may be programmed individually. Hydro-Port does not require a power supply as it is powered by the M-Bus network.

The software for the reading of the M-Bus system is available free of charge.
